PhD Scholarship in Environmental Sustainability and Conservation in New Zealand

University of Auckland offers one PhD Scholarship in Environmental Sustainability and Conservation, New Zealand. The scholarship will be awarded to a graduate from Qinghai University, Tsinghua University or the Chinese Academy of Sciences. These are one of the universities in the Three Brothers Plus Agreement. The main purpose of the Scholarship is to broaden and deepen relationships with preeminent Universities in China. Applicants must be enrollment in a full-time PhD in the School of Environment, the School of Biological Sciences, the School of Chemical Sciences or the Department of Physics at the University of Auckland. Total offer is of up to $16,840.

Eligibility: -The Scholarship will be awarded to a graduate from one of the universities in the Three Brothers Plus Agreement (namely Qinghai University or Tsinghua University or the Chinese Academy of Sciences).

-Applicant has paid the fees, or arranged to pay the fees,

-Applicants must be enrolment in a full-time PhD in the School of Environment, the School of Biological Sciences, the School of Chemical Sciences or the Department of Physics at The University of Auckland,

-to conduct research in the area of environmental sustainability and conservation.


Scholarship Open for International Students: International students can apply for this scholarship (The Scholarship will be awarded to a graduate from one of the universities in the Three Brothers Plus Agreement (namely Qinghai University or Tsinghua University or the Chinese Academy of Sciences).


Scholarship Description: The Scholarship was established in 2011 and is funded by Comvita. The main purpose of the Scholarship is to broaden and deepen relationships with preeminent Universities in China and further develop a partnership around the areas of conservation, rehabilitation and sustainability by funding a student from Qinghai University to study for a PhD in sustainability and conservation at The University of Auckland.


Number of award(s): One scholarship is offered.


Duration of award(s): Scholarship is offered for up to four years.


What does it cover? Total offer is of Up to $16,840.


Selection Criteria: The basis of selection will be academic merit (measured by the grade point equivalence assessed over the applicant’s two most recent years of full-time study or equivalent), quality of research proposal, endorsement by the proposed supervisor and host academic unit, and alignment with the faculty’s strategic plan.


 Notification: Approximately six weeks after closing date by letter.
