Doctoral Scholarships at Graz University in Austria

Graz UniversityGraz University’s doctoral program “Culture – Text – Act(ion)” invites applications for up to 4 doctoral scholarships. Two scholarships are financed by the Strategic Project “Promotion of young researchers, doctoral and postdoctoral programs”, the other two scholarships are financed by the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of Graz University. Applicants need to hold a university degree and need to propose a research project of outstanding academic quality that is relevant to the research profile of the doctoral program. The students of Austria can apply for these scholarships. The application deadline is June 14, 2013.


Study Subject(s): Scholarships are provided in the field of Literary Studies, Linguistics, Philosophy, History of Ideas and Science, Sociology, Law, History, Jewish Studies, Musicology. It integrates PhD students in interdisciplinary and international research networks and provides theoretical and methodological support for dissertation projects that involve textual, performative or pragmatic approaches  (e.g. poststructural theories, discourse analysis, narratology, performance and performativity studies, pragmaticism, action theory).

Scholarship Description: Graz University’s doctoral program “Culture – Text – Act(ion)” invites applications for up to 4 doctoral scholarships within the “European PhDnet Literary and Cultural Studies”. Two scholarships are financed by the Strategic Project “Promotion of young researchers, Doctoral and Post-doctoral Programs”, the other two scholarships are financed by the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of Graz University. The“European PhDnet Literary and Cultural Studies” facilitates joint supervision of dissertation projects and awards binational degrees according to the Cotutelle Agreement. Scholarships are awarded for dissertation projects that are conducted within the doctoral program “Culture – Text – Act(ion)” and jointly supervised by members of Graz University’s doctoral program and members of the University of Giessen.
