PhD Studentship in Welsh/ Celtic Studies at Bangor University in UK

AHRCGraduate School of Arts and Humanities at Bangor University is offering AHRC PhD Studentship in Welsh/Celtic Studies to start on October 1, 2013. AHRC grants are open to applicants from the UK and EU But scholarships for applicants from the EU could be restricted to a grant covering fees only. Fees will be paid in full and the studentship holder will receive a stipend of £13,590 per year. The application deadline is  7 June 2013.


Study Subject(s): Within the broad discipline of Celtic Studies, Bangor is a recognised centre of excellence for the study of Welsh, and the research programme may concentrate on any field relevant to Welsh literature from the medieval period to the present.  The focus can also be on comparative studies, linking Welsh with fields of study such as Welsh History, Religion, Archaeology, Music, English Literature, Welsh Writing in English, Arthurian Studies, European Languages, Cultural Studies and Political Theory and Ideology.

Eligibility: -Applicants should possess a strong academic record, including a BA degree (or equivalent). They should have a Master’s degree (or be currently studying towards a Master’s degree), but consideration will also be given to relevant professional experience. Applicants must demonstrate that they possess the ability and commitment to complete a PhD thesis within the studentship period.
