Acorn Foundation Jann Medlicott Scholarship at University of Waikato in New Zealand

University of WaikatoThe University of Waikato offers scholarship for pursuing undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate degree in New Zealand. The Scholarship will be open annually to applications from adult students (25 years and over) studying at the University of Waikato’s Tauranga campus in 2014 and residing in the areas administered by Tauranga City Council or Western Bay of Plenty District Council. One scholarship will be awarded and shall have a value of up to $3,000 per annum and be tenable for a maximum of one year. Application should be submitted till 31st August 2013.

Scholarship Description: The Acorn Foundation is a charitable trust which was formed in 2003, created by and for the people of Tauranga and the Western Bay of Plenty community.The principal goal of the Foundation is to encourage people to consider making a gift in their will to benefit the local community forever. Funds received are invested in perpetuity, and the investment income is used to support community groups and provide scholarships.

Duration of award(s): Scholarship is tenable for a maximum of one year.


What does it cover? Scholarship shall have a value of up to $3,000 per annum and be tenable for a maximum of one year.


Selection Criteria: In selecting the successful applicant for the Scholarship, the Selection Panel will take academic merit, financial circumstances, leadership, and contribution to the community into consideration.

How to Apply: The mode of applying is by post. Each applicant must also submit:

a) A personal statement summarising the applicant’s suitability for the award, focusing particularly on community contribution including leadership roles, and financial circumstances

b) Two references (one academic and one character)

c) A brief curriculum vitae.
