Fulbright-Nehru Postdoctoral Research Fellowships in USA

United States – India Educational FoundationThe Postdoctoral Research Fellowships are offered to talented Indian faculty and researchers to strengthen their research capacities. These fellowships are awarded up to eight to twenty-four months. To be eligible for these fellowships, applicants must have a PhD degree within the past four years and must be published in reputed journals and demonstrate evidence of superior academic and professional achievement. Completed applications should be submitted as an e-mail attachment by July 15, 2013.


Study Subject(s): Applications from all disciplines will be considered. Priority fields are: Agricultural Sciences; Economics; Education; Energy, Sustainable Development and Climate Change; Environment; International Relations; Management and Leadership Development; Media and Communications with focus on Public Service Broadcasting; Public Administration; Public Health; Science and Technology; Study of India with focus on contemporary issues; and Study of the United States. For Study of India or the Study of the United States (American Studies) the areas could include: language and literature, history, government, economics, society and culture, religion, and film studies.
Course Level: These Postdoctoral Research Fellowships will provide opportunities to talented faculty and researchers to strengthen their research capacities.

Eligibility:

-In addition to the General Prerequisites:

-applicants should have a Ph.D. degree within the past four years. Applicants must have obtained their Ph.D. degrees between July 2009 and July 2013;

-applicants must be published in reputed journals and demonstrate evidence of superior academic and professional achievement;

-should enclose a recent significant publication (copy of paper/article); and

-if employed, applications should be routed through proper channel;

Scholarship Description: These fellowships are designed for Indian faculty and researchers who are in the early stages of their research careers.  The Postdoctoral Research Fellowships will provide opportunities to talented faculty and researchers to strengthen their research capacities. Postdoctoral fellows will have access to some of the finest resources in their areas of interest and will help build long-term collaborative relationships with U.S. faculty and institutions. These fellowships are for eight to twenty-four months.


Duration of award(s): These fellowships are for eight to twenty-four months.


What does it cover?  These fellowships provide round-trip economy class air travel from India to the U.S., a monthly stipend, Accident and Sickness Program for Exchanges per U.S. Government guidelines, a modest settling-in allowance, and a professional allowance. Subject to availability of funds, a dependent allowance and international travel may be provided for one accompanying dependent provided the dependent is with the grantee in the U.S for at least 80% of the grant period.


How to Apply: Unless otherwise specified, students are required to submit their completed application as an e-mail attachment. In addition, students should print a copy of their application and sign it. If students are not employed, please forward the signed copy to the USIEF office in their region. If they are employed, they should forward the signed copy of their application (including enclosures, if any) through the appropriate administrative authority, to the USIEF office within their region. In case of central or state government employees, the signed copy of their application should be forwarded through the cadre controlling authority so as to reach USIEF by the application deadline. Applications must reach USIEF by the specified due date or the following business day if the due date falls on a weekend/holiday. All entries in the application form must be computer-generated and not hand-written. Please do not exceed the word limit or attach additional pages to answer questions, unless otherwise specified.
