Postgraduate Position for Marie Curie Initial Training Network (ITN) TOPOMOD in Italy

Marie Curie Initial Training NetworkTOPOMOD Initial Training Network is funding one postgraduate position for a project on “Sculpting the Earth’s topography: insights from modelling deep–surface processes” at University “Roma Tre”, Italy. This ESR position is available for 18 months. TOPOMOD fellows receive a Marie Curie salary and funds to support their participation in the TOPOMOD European wide research and training events. Family related expenses and the cost of annual travel back to the fellows’ home country is also provided. The application deadline is June 20, 2013.

Eligibility: Must be in the first four years (full-time equivalent) of their research careers and have not yet been awarded a doctoral degree. This is measured from the date when they obtained the degree which would formally entitle them to embark on a doctorate.

Scholarship Description: Marie Curie Initial Training Network (ITN) TOPOMOD is searching for a strongly motivated young scientist at the Early Stage level in the frame of TOPOMOD, a training project designed to investigate and model the origin and evolution of topography of the continents over a wide range of spatial and temporal scales. The multi-disciplinary approach combines geophysics, geochemistry, tectonics and structural geology with advanced geodynamic modelling. TOPOMOD will provide to 14 Early Stage Researchers/PhD students and 2 Experienced researchers/Postdocs : i) state-of-the-art concepts and leading edge research techniques that are essential to study the behavior of complex natural systems, ii) a strong career management skills with practical courses and activities; iii) solid professional connections with industry; iv) a socially-oriented skill on environmental risks management. This positions is available at University “Roma Tre”, Italy.

What does it cover? TOPOMOD fellows receive a Marie Curie salary. They also receive funds to support their participation in the TOPOMOD European wide research and training events.
