Each year, The Crawford Fund offers fellowship for developing countries. This fellowship is awarded up to three months to scientist for further training in an aspect of agricultural research or resource development at an Australian agricultural institution. Training will emphasize the application of knowledge to increase agricultural production in the fellow’s home country. The closing date for nominations for the 2013 fellowship is 28 June 2013.

Eligibility:-The Fellowship is open to citizens of selected developing countries.
-The nominated countries may change with time.
- Nominees will be actively engaged in the practice of some aspect of agricultural research or extension and may be undertaking formal postgraduate study.
-The successful recipient will be below the age of 35 years on 1 January in the year of the Fellowship Award.
Scholarship Open for Students of Following Countries: Students from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Burma, Cambodia, East Timor, Fiji, Indonesia, Laos, Nepal, Niue, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu and Kiribati, Vanuatu or Vietnam can apply for these scholarships.
Scholarship Description: The aim of the Fellowship is to provide further training to a scientist from a developing country whose work in the field of agriculture, fisheries, forestry or environmental protection has shown significant potential. The training shall take place at an Australian agricultural institution and the training will emphasize the application of knowledge to increased agricultural production in the Fellow’s home country.
Duration of award(s): Fellowship is offered up to three months.
What does it cover? The Recipient shall be entitled to a return economy airfare to and from Australia, graduate student standard accommodation and subsistence during the tenure of the Fellowship and comprehensive medical insurance for the period of the Fellowship.
Selection Criteria: In determining the successful nominee, the selection committee shall take into account the candidate’s professional history and experience, and the impact of his/her contributions in the application of research and development in agriculture in a developing country or countries. This impact should be identified where possible in terms of benefits to agricultural production. Preference shall be given to applicants who have not previously accepted a similar award.
How to Apply: Nominations for the award should be made by at least two persons with experience in agriculture and who have a good knowledge of the nominee’s background. The nominations must include the nominee’s full name and title, communication details, education qualifications, and professional experience. Any special aspects to the advantage of the candidate should be included. The nominators should provide evidence indicating the nominee’s fluency in English. The second proposer should be the Officerin-Charge of the nominee’s Institute, Department, etc. Nominations are confidential. Nominations must be made on the application form obtainable from the Crawford Fund by post or via emailing office at Crawford-at-crawfordfund.org.
