2013 Lloyds Scholars Programme for Undergraduates in UK

University of OxfordLloyds Banking Group in partnership with the leading universities across the UK offer students from lower income households a complete package of financial support, paid internships, a business mentor and the opportunity to develop their employ ability skills. The partner universities are University College London, University of Bath, University of Birmingham, University of Bristol, University of Edinburgh, University of Oxford, University of Sheffield and University of Warwick. Applicants should have a residual household income of under £25,000 and a confirmed offer from one of our participating universities. The application deadline is 1st July 2013.


Study Subject(s): Lloyds Scholars Programme is  open to the vast majority of degree courses offered at the partner universities, it is not suitable for medical, dentistry or veterinary degrees

Eligibility: -A residual household income of under £25,000.

-A confirmed offer from one of our participating universities which you have selected as your first choice.

-Be UK residents or EU students currently residing in the UK.

-Start the first year of their first degree in September/October 2013.

-Be on a three or four year undergraduate degree course of almost any discipline.

Scholarship Description: Lloyds Scholars is a unique social mobility programme run by Lloyds Banking Group. Partnering with leading universities across the UK, we offer students from lower income households a complete package of financial support, paid internships, a business mentor and the opportunity to develop their employability skills. Partner universities are amongst the top universities in the UK.  Students who normally live in England, Wales or Northern Ireland must have a household income under £25,000 as defined by the Student Loans Company. For students based in Scotland; we will require evidence in the form of a letter from SAAS that confirms the level of Funding Package (bursaries and loans) you are receiving based on your household income. Residual household income: Your residual household income is the gross income (before tax and national insurance deductions) minus certain allowable deductions. These can include pension payments and allowances for other dependant children. More information is available from your local authority / Student Finance England or equivalent assessing agency. Please note that before being accepted into the programme, we will require proof of income.

Duration of award(s): Funding is only available for three or four years and the programme involves committing to two paid internships (one before the final year of study), 100 hours of volunteering per year, as well as working with a mentor from Lloyds Banking Group and attending employability skills building workshops, which would not be appropriate for students on a medical, dentistry or veterinary degree.

Selection criteria: Places will be offered on a first come first served basis as people progress through the previous three stages of the applications process.
