University of Auckland Scholarships for Undergraduates in New Zealand

Auckland University of TechnologyUniversity of Auckland, New Zealand offers scholarships for undergraduates. These scholarships will be offered to students who are citizens or permanent residents of New Zealand, currently in Year 13 at a New Zealand secondary school and intending to enroll in a full-time degree programme at University of Auckland. Up to 100 scholarships will be awarded annually for a period of three years and will be of the value of tuition and other compulsory fees, plus $2,500 or $5,000 per annum. The application deadline is 4th September 2013.

Eligibility: -The Scholarships will be offered to students who are citizens or permanent residents of New Zealand, currently in Year 13 at a New Zealand secondary school and intending to enrol in a full-time degree programme at The University of Auckland.

-To take up the Scholarship, the awardee must gain at least 80 credits with a substantial proportion at Excellence in Year 13 study at Level 3, or an equivalent standard in another qualification for University Entrance.


Scholarship Open for International Students: The students of New Zealand can apply for these scholarships.


Scholarship Description: The Scholarships were established in 2002 and are funded by The University of Auckland. The main purpose of the Scholarships is to recognise and reward academic excellence, all-round ability and leadership potential among New Zealand students wishing to enter an undergraduate degree programme at The University of Auckland.


Number of award(s): 100 scholarships are offered.


Duration of award(s): Scholarships are offered  for a period of three years.


What does it cover?  Up to 100 Scholarships will be awarded annually, each for a period of three years, and will be of the value of tuition and other compulsory fees, plus $2,500 or $5,000 per annum ($2,500 where the student’s parental home is within the Auckland region; $5,000 where the student’s parental home is outside the Auckland region, plus two return fares per semester to assist the awardee to travel to their home town during the tenure of the scholarship.


Selection Criteria: The initial basis of selection will be outstanding academic ability based on results at Level 2 or higher in the National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) or an equivalent qualification, as well as demonstrating leadership potential, all-round ability and achievement in cultural and sporting abilities and motivation to attend a research-led University. Applicants’ level of preparedness for university study will also be assessed by considering their performance to date in subjects relevant to their intended degree.


Notification: Applicants will be notified by 25th October 2013.
