Scholarship Description: The Centre for Material Forming (CEMEF) is one of the research laboratories of MINES ParisTech (top executive French engineering school). CEMEF studies the materials processing’s in all their aspects: physics, chemical physics, thermal and mechanical analysis and numerical modeling. Researchers are on a large range of materials: metals, synthetic and bio polymers, food stuff, composites and nano composites, glass, ceramics. The objective of the proposed thesis is to further the development of this new formulation to improve accuracy, robustness and efficiency, and to allow its extension to a wider range of materials. Work will be performed in four areas: improving the resolution of the unilateral contact equations, development of a more robust and parallel formulation, integration of state variables by solving transport equations, and application to more complex constitutive equations.
