The Coaching Research Group (CRG), under the umbrella of SPRINZ invites applications for PhD scholarship. Applicants must demonstrate a well-developed knowledge and a clear interest in one of the three CRG research pillars and need to clearly identify how their proposed research will add value to the work of the CRG in one of these three areas. This scholarship will cover PhD tuition fees plus Student Services Levies. One scholarship is offered for Up to three years based on satisfactory progress in the programme of research.

-Applicants should also have:
-A Masters or equivalent in a sport related disciplines and meet the requirements for entry into the PhD programme at AUT University.
-Ability to conduct research and an understanding of how to apply the findings in practical settings.
-Excellent oral and written communication skills.
-Excellent time management and organisational skills.
-Personal attributes as follows: enthusiasm, reliability, creativity and perseverance.
-Ability to function effectively as a member of a team and independently where necessary.
-Willingness to travel and to be flexible.
-Minimum English language requirement – IELTS scores of 6.5 overall with 7 in writing and all other bands 6.0 or higher.
-Background in sport as an athlete, coach or as part of a support team is desirable.

Notification: Decisions will be made as soon as possible depending on the location of the candidate and the opportunity to coordinate a face-to-face meeting. Closing and decision dates will be extended if candidates do not satisfy the requirements. AS soon as possible after the closing date.

-A statement (max. three pages) outlining ;
-which research pillar relates to your proposed study and providing your initial ideas regarding how you would conduct a series of studies to meet this aim
-your coaching philosophy – what you believe to be the key principles (rules to live by) when working with coaches and athletes
examples of how you have demonstrated long term time management skills working independently and when working in a team you have encountered conflict and overcome it.
-Application for this scholarship and admission into the PhD programme are two separate processes. The awarding of a scholarship is conditional on acceptance into the AUT doctoral programme. As the admissions process may take up to two months to complete it is important to contact the postgraduate office of the faculty for advice on the application for study process.
