The School of Life and Health Sciences at Aston University is offering 12 PhD Scholarships for international students. Out of  these six are reserved for Indian students only. The scholarships will cover payment of £7,000 per year towards tuition fees up to 3 years, subject to a satisfactory progress review at the end of the first year. The scholarships are offered for projects available in research groups allied to: Biomedical Sciences, Biology, Pharmacy, Optometry and Psychology. Interested applicants may apply till 13th May 2013 for July 2013 entry and 8th July 2013 for October 2013 entry.

Eligibility: Applicants should have or expect to have:

-A good Bachelor’s (Hons.) degree (1st class or upper 2nd) or hold an MSc in a relevant discipline.

-A level of English Language equal to a minimum score of 620 (260 minimum in computer test) in TOEFL OR IELTS with minimum marks of 6.5 in each section and an overall band of 7.0.


Scholarship Open for International Students: International students can apply for this scholarship (Six reserved for Indian students only).


Scholarship Description: Applications are invited for three-year PG Research Scholarships for International Students to be undertaken in the School of Life and Health Sciences at Aston University to start in July 2013 or October 2013. The School of Life and Health Sciences is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to pursue cutting-edge research. In the 2008 RAE, 85% of the research in the School of Life and Health Sciences was ranked as being of international quality, and the School was ranked 3rd out of 63 UK University submissions to Allied Health Professions and Studies for quality and volume of research. The School had a research income of £5.7m in 2011/12 and has a current population of 147 PG research students.


Number of award(s): Total Twelve scholarships are available. (Six reserved for Indian students only).


Duration of award(s): Scholarships are for 3 years, subject to a satisfactory progress review at the end of the first year, and are available for July 2013 or October 2013 Registration.


What does it cover?  The scholarships will cover payment of £7,000 per year towards tuition fees [International fees: approx. £14,200 per year].


Selection Criteria: Scholarships for international students will be awarded competitively on merit.
