JRF-SRF-Project Fellowship at CCS University, India

CCS UniversityDBT/UGC is funding research projects at Department of Genetics & Plant Breeding, Ch. Charan Singh University, India. Total three research fellowships are available i.e. one for junior, one for senior and one for project fellow. To be eligible for these fellowships, applicants must be M.Sc/M.Sc.(Ag.) /M.Tech./M.Phil  in the field of Plant Sciences (preferably Genetics and Plant Breeding/Plant Biotechnology) and for senior research fellowship two years research experience in the field of molecular marker technology for crop improvement is required. NET qualified students will be given preference. Interview letters will not be issued and no TA/DA will be paid.


Study Subject(s): Three projects are offered entitled “Mobilizing QTL/Genes for Quality Traits into High Yielding Wheat Varieties Through Marker- Assisted Selection” (on-going project, up to August 31, 2014) for JRF. Cloning and Characterization of Genes Expressed in Response to Leaf Rust Infection in Bread Wheat” (new project, up to January 2016) for SRF and Genetic Dissection of Grain Weight in Bread Wheat Using Molecular Markers and In Silico Studies for Project Fellow.

Eligibility:

-Candidate should be M.Sc/M.Sc. (Ag.)/M.Tech./M.Phil. in the area of Plant Sciences (preferably Genetics and Plant Breeding/Plant Biotechnology).

-For the posts of SRF, two years research experience in the field of molecular marker technology for crop improvement is essential (candidate with fresh Master’s degree may be considered for JRF, if no suitable candidates is available for SRF).

-Candidates who have qualified NET will be preferred.

Scholarship Description: The Plant Molecular Biology Laboratory is one of the premier laboratories of Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding at Ch. Charan Singh University, Meerut, in India. It was formed in the beginning of the department through the merger of several small laboratories of the department. Today it have become one large multi subjective plant genomic- and molecular breeding-focused laboratory. With more than 10 scientists and research staff, a large laboratory space, and beautiful location in center of Ch. Charan Singh University, Meerut, the Plant Molecular Biology Laboratory is a leader in plant genomic and molecular breeding research in India.
