AORN Foundation is offering scholarships for perioperative nursing students of baccalaureate, master’s and doctoral level with a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0 or higher. Applicant must be in an accredited program leading to initial licensure as an RN. The applicant must possess an interest in the field of perioperative surgical nursing. This interest and/or experience must be clearly demonstrated in the personal statement. Winner will be notified by August 15, 2013. Official award letters will be mailed to scholarship recipients by September 1, 2013.

International students are welcome to apply. Because we are the member association for perioperative nurses, the applicant must possess an interest in the field of perioperative/surgical nursing. This interest and/or experience must be clearly demonstrated in the personal statement.

Scholarship Description: The AORN Foundation is the philanthropic arm of AORN. As a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, the Foundation provides critical funding for resources and programs that support patient safety. Specifically, the Foundation supports perioperative nurses and advances surgical patient care through funding nursing scholarships, research, and educational resources. Program is accredited when it is officially recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a national accreditation agency, the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) is an autonomous accrediting agency contributing to the improvement of the public’s health. CCNE ensures the quality and integrity of baccalaureate and graduate education programs preparing effective nurses.

Duration of award(s): Recipients will only be reimbursed for classes with a start date later than July 1, 2013 and before June 30, 2014.
What does it cover? Allowable expenses covered by the AORN Foundation scholarships are tuition charges and the cost of books.
Selection Criteria: The selection of winners is based on academics/transcripts, essay, financial need, and accurate completion of the scholarship application.
Notification: Winner(s) will be notified by August 15, 2013. Official award letters will be mailed to scholarship recipients by September 1, 2013.
How to Apply: Applicants can apply online. Official transcript should be sent by post stating that you are a 3.0 or higher student. Instructions for Applicants are as follows:

-Complete both the Demographic Information form AND the Academic Application form and be sure to SUBMIT after completing.
-Applications must be submitted on or before midnight on June 15, 2013. Recipients will be notified by July 31, 2013.
Scholarship Application Deadline: The deadline for applications for the 2013-2014 academic year is June 15, 2013.
Note : The AORN Foundation follows a tuition reimbursment process. Recipients are awarded funds after completing the course and turning in receipts of payment and proof of grades. The Scholarship Committee does not award scholarships to high school students who are just entering college.
